Many of you will be aware that for some years now the committee and trustees have been working towards the development of a new hall and community centre. Like the HS2 construction this has at times been a challenging project, and there have been a number of false starts. However, we can now see some light at the end of the tunnel with much progress being made over the last year.
The committee, with the support of the parish council, have approved the final design which is what the community has seen previously. There is however, the added provision of changing rooms, supporting the re-formation of the cricket club, and hopefully other clubs in the future.
The plans are currently being polished by our local architect; Nick from Godden, Allen & Law and submission for planning permission to Dover, District Council (DDC) will take place shortly. As with all things planning, there is likely to be some delay however the committee will be pressing DDC for an early indication of approval so that funding applications can be prepared and submitted. A business case to support these funding applications has been written and this will be uploaded by Jen Cross to the website shortly.
We are delighted that Elmstone resident, Air Marshall (Retd) Christopher Nickolls, who is a Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Kent has agreed to become our patron and Chris will be assisting wherever and whenever he can, using his wealth of experience to guide us.
We continue to raise funding locally with functions (please see our Events & Fundraising tab) and we hope you will continue to support and give generously. As a way to help with our fundraising mission, we have registered with Amazon Smile. So, when doing your shopping with Amazon, we would be very grateful if you would consider choosing the Village Hall to donate.
